Today I will be sharing with us some of the most visited and popular websites in Nigeria. Well you maybe wondering of what relevance is this to article? But the truth must be told. The actual reason for this is not far fetched at all. Most of these sites that I will be showcasing happens to be some websites that do online shopping. So if they could be among the list of most popular websites for the year, it then means that their authentication is true. At least it will ease the tension away from you while you do online shopping activities with them.  

Nairaland – This I am sure will not come as a surprise to anyone. Because year in year out it has remained Nigeria’s most popular website over the decade. Nairaland as it were  is an online community als called an online forum. This online forum was created by Seun
Osewa in March 2005. Its targets are mainly Nigerians only. It was among the few websites in Nigeria that enjoyed the internet boom of the middle 2000. Infact as the saying goes “first come first serve”.

It was in April 29 2005, just a month after its launch, the website Nairaland started having momentum and grew over  214 Members, 113Topics and 787 Posts.
Like every new company on the planet it had its own fair share of bad beginning. But as at last last May 2015,  Nairaland have registered over  1,300,000 accounts. According to Alexia, Nairalnd is ranked as the 7th most popular and visited site in Nigeria. came into existence in the year 2012. June 2012 to be precise.
Jumia is amongst the most visited website in Nigeria. In fact, its visitors are from all corners of the country. Jumia is an online shopping mall. It deals with a whole wide range of Electronic, fashion, home appliances, and lots of kids items.

Like I said before, came into Existence in the year 2012. The Original founders of Jumia includes Jeremy Hodara, Sacha Poignonnec, Tunde Kehinde, Raphael Afaedor, and Leonard Stiegeler. And it was funded by the fanous Rocket Internet.

Currently, Jumia has grown to have about eight warehouses in eight African  countries. The countries are : Egypt, Morocco, Kenya, Cote d’Ivoire, Uganda, Ghana, Cameroon and the United Kingdom. has really done great based on online matters. Konga is a Nigerian electronic commerce company that was founded in the year 2012. Its headquarters is located at Yaba Lagos state. Konga’s mainly deals on a third-party online marketing. That is not to say that they do not engage in first-party direct retail. Like Jumia, Konga also have various categories of good stuffs they sell which includes consumer electronics, fashion, home appliances, books, children’s items, and other personal care products. came into existence on May 2012. The owner of the website is Sim Shagaya. Immediately Konga came into existence, in 2012, the company  raised
a $3.5 million seed round from Investment AB Kinnevik. well for many, would be the most popular website in Nigeria. According to Alexa ratings,  linda’s blog came into existence in the year 2006.
According to her public statistics, started to attract huge amount of traffics before the year 2007.
In October 8 2014, the website was shutdown by google but was later brought back on the 10 October 2014. The reasons for the shutting the site down according to Mr. Kola Ogunlade, a Google correspondent, was this  “We take violations of policies very seriously as such activities diminish the experience for our users. When we are notified of the
existence of content that may violate our Terms of Service, we act quickly to review it and determine whether it actually violates our policies. If we determine that it does, we remove it immediately.”
