The first Civilian Governor of Bayelsa state Chief Alamieyeseigha, on friday lost his life to Cardia Arrest. He reportedly did at the University of Portharcourt Teaching Hospital Portharcourt River state. His death came Amidst the United Kingdom requesting for his extradition. He died after sleeping into Coma and was placed on life support.
The news of his state was revealed to newsmen and the entire public by the Bayelsa State Commissioner for Information, Esueme Dan-Kikili, who confirmed the death to Channels Television. Mr Esume told the public that the death of the former governor was a great loss to the Ijaw ethnic people.
According to reports prio to the day he died, the British Government was determined to resurrect an outstanding case of money laundering against the ex Bayelsa state governor and had requested for his extradition to London to face corruption charges that has been labelled against him.
It was a well known issue when Alamieyeseigha who was facing money laundering charges in the United Kingdom, jumped bail and returned to Nigeria. After words, he was granted state pardon by the Goodluck Jonathan regime.

Bayelsa State. He had his secondary school education at the prestigious Bishop Dimeari Grammar School, Yenagoa
He later joined the Nigerian Defence Academy in 1974 as a Cadet Officer, and on completion, he was enlisted in the Nigerian Air Force.
Chief Diepreye Alamieyeseigha served in the department of Logistics and Supply during his early times in the Nigeria Air Force.
Later on, he was promoted as a squadron leader before retiring from the Air Force in 1992 as a Squadron Leader.
During his service year, he served in Enugu, Markurdi, Kaduna and Ikeja. According to reports then, he became the Sole Administrator of Pabod Supplies
Port Harcourt and later Head of Budget, Planning, Research and Development of the National Fertiliser Company (NAFCON).
Diepreye Alamieyeseigha was Governor of Bayelsa State in Nigeria starting from May 29 and ended in December 5 2005. He was found guilty of money laundering, corruption and was impeached on December 5 2005.
